About the owners behind Virginia KuneKunes
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. I am one of the original founders of the American KuneKune Pig Society. I served as the Vice president for 1 1/2 years and 2 1/2 years as the President of AKKPS. I currently serve as the Registrar and webmaster. In the past I served as President, Registrar, Treasurer, Newsletter Editor, VP and President and Regional Director of the American KuneKune Pig Society.
I blog for Grit Magazine, write articles for American Livestock Magazine, and write in the educational section of the American KuneKune Pig Society Newsletter called Pig Tales. I have done extensive research into the History and Bloodlines of KuneKunes across the world and have written many articles about it. I do hope that you will take the time to read all the many articles you will find about KuneKunes located on our website.
We are very active in the breed! We try to be as active as possible with KuneKune Pigs here in the USA. We feel this helps us be knowledgeable about this amazing breed and my history working in a vet clinic for 4 years adds to our knowledge so that we may provide you with excellent healthy pigs/piglets.
Here is our story: Our lives have really changed since our introduction into the KuneKunes. We now share our lives with a rather large herd of KuneKunes and have one of the largest and most diverse herds in the state of Virginia and one of the top 10 breeding herds in the USA. Our Hobby Farm has really grown. It has been a "love affair" since we brought our dear Ziggy home that cold February afternoon.
We are dedicated to our animals and their welfare. We pride ourselves on our integrity and willingness not to make a sale but, to truly assist people in finding top quality breeding stock, homesteading pigs and pets to fit their individual and family needs. We are here to assist you every step of the way from selecting your stock, to feeding and care and so much more. Our support does not end when you leave our property but, we are happy to help and give guidance and suggestions whenever you need us.
My husband, Scott and I maintain a small acre farm in Dinwiddie, VA and Brunswick, VA. We share our life with our beautiful granddaughter who lives with us . Leanna is our first granddaughter. We also have two other granddaughters. Leanna is a wonderful socializer for our animals. She has assisted in showing, training and even delivering babies at only 11 years old. We are trying to instill the old fashioned values of less electronics/TV and more family farm life to teach her responsibility and caring for something other than herself.
We both have long time careers as well. We have dogs, cats, goats and KuneKunes on our small acre farm. We have been raising, training and competing in agility, obedience and conformation dog showing for 10+ years. (We own Rockland Australian Shepherds.) My husband is from New Jersey and was born a city boy! Well, country girl meets city boy! I was able to show him a totally new way of life. He has done some amazing things at our farm in building fences, houses and more. We recently have added another 12 acres for our KuneKunes on another farm in Brunswick County just a few moments from our home. I am lucky to have my son who is also a huge part of Virginia KuneKunes and the success of it. It is awesome to share in raising this breed with my family.

Here is what a few of our buyers have to say
I haven't even bought a pig yet (plan to) but I will tell you her knowledge is more than 5 star quality. Above that, she really cares about these pigs, you can see it in her articles on her Web page about genetics, and line breeding etc. These are not a hobby for her but a passion which is the exact type of breeder I would want to buy from. But even a step further, her support is bar none! She doesn't get paid for all her time to help everyone learn, yet it is there and readily available without judgments or snooty attitudes. If I could rate ten stars I would and remember, I haven't even purchased a pig yet! But I will be. Thank you Virginia Kune Kunes for helping a novice start this journey with this breed! by James Carbine
My husband and I were first drawn to their very informative website..we had looked at many other breeders and done our homework.Once we contacted Kathy she responded so quickly! When I asked (on very short notice I might add ) if we could visit their farm she immediately said yes-which made me very very confident that we had selected the right breeder. They were welcoming and very knowledgeable about the breed-and their love of the breed was obvious. We couldn't be happier with our little(for now ) guy! Thank you both Kathy & Scott! by Lori Frazier
Kathy not only has outstanding KuneKunes, but she shares her wealth of knowledge to everyone. This a priceless service she provides all for the betterment of the breed. Of course, she knows that everyone who buys one becomes addicted!
